GUIDELINES FOR JOURNALISTS

BYU-Pathway Worldwide values an open, friendly relationship with the news media. Because BYU-Pathway is a private institution dedicated to the creation of a focused learning environment, a few guidelines should be followed.

  • Reporters planning to cover a story about BYU-Pathway Worldwide, it programs (e.g. PathwayConnect) or its students should first coordinate with BYU-Pathway Communications. This includes interviews, video and/or photographs.
  • If speaking with a student is necessary for a story, reporters should work with BYU-Pathway Communications to coordinate an interview. BYU-Pathway asks that PathwayConnect students not be interviewed during their weekly gatherings, so they can focus their attention on their studies.
  • Students, Pathway Church-service missionaries and others who participate in or facilitate PathwayConnect at the local level, should be interviewed only if their perspective is relevant to the story being covered. These individuals do not speak on behalf of BYU-Pathway and should not be used as a source of official BYU-Pathway information. Official institutional comment comes only from BYU-Pathway Communications.
