GUIDELINES FOR JOURNALISTS
PathwayConnect and BYU-Pathway Worldwide value an open, friendly relationship with the news media. Because BYU-Pathway Worldwide is a private institution dedicated to the creation of a focused learning environment, a few guidelines should be followed.
- Reporters planning to cover a story about PathwayConnect or its students should first coordinate with Pathway Communications. This includes interviews, video, and/or photographs.
- If speaking with a student is necessary for a story, reporters should work with Pathway Communications to coordinate an interview. Pathway asks that students not be interviewed during their weekly gatherings so they can focus their attention on their studies.
- Students, PathwayConnect service missionaries, and others who participate in or facilitate PathwayConnect at the local level should be interviewed only if their perspective is relevant to the story being covered. These individuals do not speak on behalf of Pathway and should not be used as a source of official Pathway information. Official institutional comment comes only from Pathway Communications.
